Back at It

I finally figured out how to pair a new belt with an old and nearly broken watch. Ordered a new back to the watch as well...so far so good. So, it has been determined that I will attempt to get back in shape again to at least not make a complete fool out of myself (hopefully) at a couple of rando events. It's a bit embarrassing creating a pool under the cycling machine at a gym, but I guess that happens. So, the h/r stuff is to continue to get me motivated. Thad and Max are up for a few events as well. Thad is working on going sub-seven on the erg (I've never done that) and Max checks in that SLC needs snow and that he may be able to do the Keg this year rather than the sweep detail. I appreciate the Fam letting me take time to have fun in the mountains - Thanks Guys!

Greetings from the Gulf, a cloudy day today, caught 3 speckled trout yesterday on my 6wt.

Ok, looks like you basically had three steady-state periods, one early at a lower work, then two others. Any way of knowing what your watts (work on the ergometer) was during those periods? If your VO2/kg was accurate, I don't think you were at near peak. 34 is fine, but I'd guess you are well above that.

Your HR dropped off nicely at the end.

Hello Mike,

That had to be fun on a six weight!

My week was off a tad as Wed is usually pilates, but I had to move that around and ended up doing some short erg bursts (still nervous on these) followed by some additional short intervals on the stationary bike - Life Fitness Machine).

That made Thursday's ride on the LF mach hurt. The watts on the two sets of 20 mins are about 316 at 90-92 cad on LV 17 (if it's right). My h/r is coming down. Three or so weeks ago on these I was well over 170 most of the way. Now hanging around 164 - 169. It's encouraging. The first ten mins are LV 10 warm up.

Today over lunch was pilates (rather than Wed.). Needed it! Feeling pretty good. NEED SNOW THOUGH to chase my friend up the mountain!

Tight Lines, garland

Hi Mike, I accidentally deleted your below comment trying to publish it after reading it on the phone:

"The people I've seen that amaze me are cyclists and hockey players, with their leg strength. I've seen a exercise test video of Lance Armstrong pedaling at 600 watts in a steady-state, and I've personally seen hockey players hit 700 watts in a max test.
Enjoy the winter, I'm going to be here fishing for another 5 days, then slowly back to LA for a couple months. I'll be back in late Feb or early March."

I know legs on the majors are what it's all about. Skiers, Rowers, Cyclists, Hockey... Time and effort, right? Safe travels.
