Doves

I noticed some doves in the backyard today. We finally got enough snow to cover things and remind me to put out some bird seed. Also, Carson's aviary had me thinking of it too. We usually feed the birds and enjoyed having a nest of them on our front door last year.

Things have been busy lately. Hunting season wrapped up empty handed this year. Some of the highlights were hunting with my daughter and giving her an opportunity at an excellent whitetail. LR blew a stalk on a buck as well. We never got into the elk, other than my early season bump into some cows. Late season, I had a brief window at what I believe was the same whitetail buck on the same ridge (as we were on a few weeks prior) while hunting on an A/T setup. Hoping to hone this skill for next season. Maybe he'll survive the winter and still be around.

Got some skiing in yesterday at Lookout with some friends. I looked at my training log and at this time last year it was non-stop bowl and Griz runs. We need more of the white stuff.

Very nice picture of the dove, Garland. I hope you have a good season skiing, and get plenty of snow.
I made it to the gulf yesterday, it's quite cool and windy today, no sign of the sun. And I would much rather drive across Montana than Texas.

Hi Mike,

Glad to hear you are to the gulf. The Journal today has an article on the spill's effects on the Bluefin in the gulf. Pretty tough fish, tuna.

Looking at the flow levels in ID, I've been putting off a steelhead sneak until things improve.

Same situation in the hills here -need snow. Looking forward to your fish stories in the Keys. Travel well. Garland

ps. The doves are rare in our backyard. My wife's canon has a decent zoom as I was not very close.

Nice dove pics. We've had the ring-necked ones showing up, along with a big flock of cedar waxwings that I cleaned our Mtn Ash berries in minutes.
